At Green Bone, we believe in second chances. Not only are our dog toys made from second-hand materials, but we also hire youth with criminal backgrounds. Our mission is two-fold, helping to preserve our planet while eliminating violence in the youth of Mexico.
My name is Yadira Fernández, I am 21 years old and I am the founder of Green Bone.
Many believe that those who have been to prison do not deserve a second chance. We believe that not only do they deserve a second chance, they can become some of the best social actors to transform communities. Green Bone helps them by providing an opportunity for meaningful work, a place to regain confidence, and a strong support network.

One day my dream is to become an international company, hire hundreds of formerly incarcerated youth and contribute a large percentage of profits to programs that keep kids out of prison in the first place. Programs that break criminogenic patterns from the roots.
They say it takes a community to raise a family. As women, in particular, I think it’s up to us to help break those patterns in the youth around us. Be empathetic, show support and give others a second chance.
