How Growth Takes Time

As I sat in silence this morning, reflecting on my home, inside and out, I started to understand the perfect timing of everything. I sat with so much gratitude for what I have and what I have accomplished. I moved into this home very quickly with my family and it wasn’t originally what we wanted but we had to make choices fast when moving this time. Like every place that I go, I don’t have much trouble making it a home. But what I was taking in was the time and how that related to the time I’ve spent on myself.  Read on How Growth Takes Time.

When we moved in I was eager to change EVERYTHING! I had so many projects on my mind, so much baggage to unload and so much growth to go through. The walls needed paint. The yard needed flowers, better grass, a quaint firepit to enjoy with my family, a huge garden for all my growing during the summer. It needed new fixtures, decor to suit this particular space, it needed ME.

So, I got to work! And a few seasons later I sat here admiring everything that I had done and how it all fell into place just when it needed to. The grass is growing, my sons play house is painted and all set up with little details and fun activities. I finally got that patio table made and chairs to match so I can enjoy all the gorgeous summer and fall night dinners out there. The wildflowers are blooming, garden fence is in place, the gallery walls of all our adventures are filling up the empty wall space. The great room is coming together and is sure to make a grand appearance for Santa this year when he stops by. The clutter has been cleared. I’ve kept what aligns with our values and life and I’ve embraced new relationships that this place has brought to us. Oh the memories and happiness we will find in our life here.

How Growth Takes Time

Time and patience

What is most important about all of this is the time and patience it took to get there. Like the home we are building for ourselves externally, we are also making our house a home internally. Each year and every season you will go through new lessons, periods of calm and periods of busy. You’ll have highs and you’ll have lows. Like we gather new things for our home, tools in the garage, new memories to put on the wall, you will also gather new knowledge that you didn’t have one year that can help you in the next years. You’ll start settling into what your true values are and contentment for yourself and you’ll be able to shine more, live more, and express yourself more unapologetically.

You’ll work internally, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. One year may be a better time for you mentally or you may be eager to feel that sense of purpose you are looking for, but it’s important to remember that you can’t have it all at once. You are turning the soul and body the universe gave you into a home and that takes TIME. Life doesn’t go up up up and never down down down. There will be ebbs and flows. You have to lay the roots down first and let them grow. Let them find water so you can be strong. Settle in and get comfortable. Ask yourself what you want your home to look like and feel like. This may be the season you see it all come together and it also might be the season you are still gathering. That’s life, both personal and professional, and it’s beautiful.
