The Do’s And Don’ts During COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Quarantine

Although the title is ‘Do’s and Don’ts’, I will provide suggested solutions and explanations to the challenges that many, if not all of us, are facing during this time. Ultimately, it is about adapting to the new reality and in the coming content I hope to guide as much as possible on how to adapt effectively during one of the most challenging times in recent history 

It would be impossible to cover everything in one article so I will be writing a number of articles over the next coming days and weeks which will elaborate on the points/topics in this article

I want to first and foremost send my regards to all of you reading this. Together We Are Stronger, we are all human beings that must come together to support each other as we are all part of one race, the human race. I hope that you are taking the recommended health and safety precautions (issued by the World Health Organisation – WHO) and wish that you stay safe and healthy (mentally, physically and spiritually) during this time.

Do’sWhy?Don’ts
Stay informed and up to date from validated correct sources – i.e The World Health Organization (Who) – https://www.who.int/This is so that you keep up to date with the latest medical and scientifically backed advice regarding Covid-19 and Quarantine guidelines you must follow
Avoid incorrect, unvalidated tabloid reporting. There is a lot of incorrect and biased information circulating on the internet including on social media
Stay informed and up to date with your country’s Government guidelinesThis is so you keep up to date with the legal guidelines you must follow
This is also so you can keep informed of what support and aid they are providing the public and how you can apply

Educate Yourself The more you educate yourself the better prepared you are able to handle the situation Ignorance is not bliss, it is better to be informed than to pretend the problem does not exist
Make your health & wellbeing a priority It is more important than ever to ensure you keep yourself healthy mentally, physically and spiritually
These are anxiety triggering times and It’s Okay Not to Be Okay, there are going to be good days and bad days, take it one day at a time
Ignoring the impact this global disruption and change has had on you as well as the world will only damage your health – this is why keeping informed and adapting is important
Get active and stay healthy
Be Mindful and Aware of your environment Working from home and self isolating is no doubt presenting new challenges to all. Adjust your space and create boundaries with yourself and others to ensure you are able to function effectively You can’t expect that you can carry on the way you have done in the past, that worked when the circumstances were as they were in the past. Adapt to the new reality and ensure your environment around you adjusts accordingly to assist you living in a new way
Have a Routine – Adapt as you go along Routines are going to help you. Before this crisis we all had a routine, now that routine has been disrupted from factors outside of our control. However what we can do is create a new routine that works to our benefitAdapting is key. There is still a lot of uncertainty professionally, economically, financially etc so manage your expectations and be willing to adapt accordingly
Don’t set yourself up for failure by being unrealistic with your routines and what you expect to accomplish in a day
Stay Connected – Keep regular contact through technology
Human to Human interaction is important for all of us. It does not matter if you are an introvert, extrovert or ambivert
Social or Physically Distancing does not mean you are alone
Avoid just messaging, ensure you engage in phone calls and where possible video calls
Be Positive and Optimistic
Have a growth mindset
Be Self – Aware
Mindset is everything. If you manage your mind you manage your reality. Being positive and optimistic does not mean you are pretending everything is ok, it doesn’t mean you have everything figured out, it means you have the right attitude to deal with what is happening and make the most of it Don’t ignore your emotions. Be careful not to supress what you are feeling, find appropriate outlets to manage stress and anxiety
Don’t compare yourself with others
