“F.R.I.E.N.D.S”
In the era when technology and electronics had not flooded across many parts of the globe, yet even today when the whole world exists by the presence of oxygen and internet- the two essentials of living, this iconic and witty sitcom-“F.R.I.E.N.D.S” rules over a million of hearts and even more! We no more judge people by their perception, attitude and behavior, rather by a simple question posed- „Which is your favorite character from the TV show- FRIENDS?‟, that‟s the impact this show has over its fans ever-growing in number. The six protagonists [Monica, Ross, Chandler, Phoebe, Rachel and Joey] and the yellow couch at Central Perk kept each of us addicted episode-by-episode and season-by- season.
While it is said- Time is the best healer, I would say „FRIENDS‟ is the instant mood-maker. A couple of things portrayed through the fiction helps revive strength and motivation within us, inspiring us to live our lives the way we desire it to be.
Here are some of the punches from the fiction that are too good to miss:
I. Never to give up on dreams, and make a life rather than just living:
Ross Geller is masked by a loving aura, yet hopelessly in love with his childhood friend Rachel Green got married for the third time, not bothering about what others had to say. Rachel did not end up getting her ideal job at the very first instance. Not by just moving out of comfort zones, Rachel grows to be an empowered woman in all walks of her life- right from her career to marrying the love of her life and parenting a little baby. She built her life by herself to be the way she desired. She remained honest and continued to give her best despite all failures.
II. Be yourself! And have real people around you:
Chandler is popularly known to be weird yet a wisenheimer, humor being his defensive reaction at all times never feared risks, may it be the uncanny proposals or quitting his job and living his life at its best by marrying his lady love. He lived with the sassiest bunch of friends who eventually brought the best out of him. They always stood by each other, be it over a piece of advice, a shoulder to cry on, spend the special occasions and make memories together.
III. ‘Perfection’ may not turn out to be the perfect thing always:
Monica, a precisionist who wants to have it all figured out at the very instance, planned and controlled most of the time. Labeled to be the most organized and determined, settling for nothing less than just the best. In defiance of which certain things did fail to go in accordance with her plans and beyond her control on both professional and personal front.
IV. Having differing opinions is absolutely fine:
Joey seen as a struggling actor, who strongly believes that people differing by their opinions can never define the incapability of a person based on their individual perspectives, and thus, never took rejection to heart. His strategy- „The Moo Point‟was referred by him as a cow‟s opinion, that doesn‟t even matter when two people are not on the same page with each other.
V. Happiness is a state of mind by choice:
Despite some uncertainties in life Phoebe appears to be the whimsical of the clan. She brings joy and light to the faces beyond the screen no matter what be the mood of the day. She has probably never learned to stay depressed regardless of the fact that she had been brought up through challenging times, always impacting her peers with positivity and radiance.
VI. Be Crazy. Be Quirky:
Humor is the key to all healing in life, Phoebe being the constant when it comes to all the wacky moments of the show. Challenges that are faced by each one are simply shrugged off beyond the point when all the characters start appearing outlandish to bring back the real joy in life.
VII. Making time for the loved ones:
Being around a bunch of lively people who love us to bits is the best therapy. This show portrays the bonding of this lively troop, spending time together apart from each one having their priorities and occupied schedules. The most peculiar moment at any point of the show is when the whole crew appears on the frame reuniting at Central Perk spreading laughter.
