Does ‘FAILURE’ Seem Threatening To You?

Failure

The inability to score great at school, weeping over heartbreaks, hardships on the family-front, deadlines and stressful working schedules- often appear to us as failures that all of us go through at some point in life. Simply put, FAILURE is the ‘lack of energy we possess to meet the energy required to face a particular situation’. For instance, preparing a report to be submitted the following day, requires you to list out all the relevant details for that meeting, consisting some of the information that you might not have been aware of, which seems to be a failure. In this case, it’s not you or the report you’ve been working on, which fails. Rather it’s the lack of knowledge you have had to overcome the failure.

Perception

Our perception towards a failure in a particular situation discourages us more than failure itself. For most of us, failure seems to be like an end of our efforts, appearing like a verdict judging our ability. What if we happened to change our perception about failure- taking it as an opportunity rather than a threat? How about redefining it all together- For An Inner Leap Unifying Risk & Energy (FAILURE)? Thus failure rings in for initiating an action within us, to meet the challenges with the best of our ability.

Arianna Huffington, the co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post, being one of the most recognized online publishers today, had been rejected by 36 major publishers to publish her second book after which she build the well-known Huffington Post empire. Walt Disney, one of the most creative geniuses of the 20th century had once been laid off from his job at a news daily company on being told that he lacked creativity.

To-Do’s to overcome Failure:-

  1. Prioritize on health and wellness: Catching up on enough sleep, exercises and meditation as a part of the daily routine and a nutritious intake will help prevent exhaustion both physically and mentally.
  2. Focus on Positivity: Refrain from the negative vibes of people and events. Indulging in hobbies you like, changing your circle of interaction, enabling the growth and embracing change.
  3. Focus on Energy rather than Time: Instead of dividing the time we spend, let’s split the energy output that we can devote. For instance, having two hours in hand and spending them on two meetings of one hour each, put in the best of your attention for forty-five minutes each making the most of the impact with your attention rather than your minutes.
  4. Be Accepting: Accepting one-self by our strengths and weaknesses, learning from people and events around us.
  5. The Action Component: The only difference between our current situation and the desired situation is learning from the circumstances, along with practicing what we learn- ‘Doing things’.

Are we still considering failure as a threat? We shall probably refer to it as the ‘Pre-Success’ stage.
