Jill Buck is the embodiment of modern leadership—rooted in faith, driven by purpose, and styled with intention. With more than two decades in the fashion and beauty industry, Jill has built a global career as a celebrity hairstylist, educator, and the first North American Colour Ambassador for Davines. Her work has taken her around the world, yet her values remain grounded in authenticity, humility, and heart.
Beyond the red carpet, Jill’s most important role is at home. As a mother of two teenage boys, she defines success not by accolades, but by example—showing up with integrity, working hard, and staying true to her beliefs. That same philosophy fuels her newest venture: a thoughtfully crafted heirloom hair accessory brand designed to counter fast fashion with meaning, quality, and longevity.
Every Jill Buck accessory tells a story. From limited-quantity production to bows that symbolize character traits, her designs are intentional expressions of love, individuality, and inspiration. Built as a small, family-driven business, her brand reflects Jill’s commitment to sustainability, simplicity, and creating pieces meant to be cherished—not discarded.
In this Women on Topp interview, Jill opens up about humble success, faith as her anchor, the realities of celebrity styling, and why true beauty has everything to do with kindness and character. Her journey is one of quiet confidence, purpose-led creativity, and a belief that impact—like style—is most powerful when it comes from the heart.
Is there a personal ritual or daily habit that keeps you centered no matter where you are in the world?
My faith in God serves as my anchor. Life is full of ups and downs, and unexpected challenges arise every day. No matter where I am, my faith helps me stay centered.
What is one lesson your children have taught you that you now apply in your work or leadership?
They’ve taught me the importance of staying true to myself. Just as I guide them, I recognize that peer pressure is a constant, even in adulthood. To truly stand out, it’s not about doing what everyone else is doing; it’s essential to be grounded in one’s morals and authentic self.

What does “humble success” mean to you — and how do you live that out daily?
I hesitate to label myself as successful. While I’ve achieved some goals, I have many more to reach. To me, success involves hard work, and I believe I’ll always be striving for more rather than claiming to have achieved it.
How has your definition of beauty evolved over the years, both professionally and personally?
As cliché as it may sound, I now see beauty in people’s hearts. Kindness, generosity, respect, and valuing others—that’s true beauty. In the service industry, I’ve encountered many clients, but those who radiate light and love are the most beautiful.
Being a mom to two teenage boys, how do they shape your definition of success and influence your day-to-day decisions?
Everything I do is for my boys. They motivate me to show up and work hard, even when I don’t feel like it. I strive to be the example I preach. My primary goal is to make them proud.
What inspired you to launch your heirloom hair accessory brand, and how does it differ from what’s on the market today?
I’ve dreamed of this for a long time; it aligns perfectly with my professional background in fashion for hair. This venture presents new challenges but allows me to stay creative. I want my brand to be an heirloom, countering the trend of cheap, disposable fashion. You won’t find bows like mine—high-quality, purposeful, and affordable.
What’s one common misconception people have about celebrity hairstyling or the beauty industry at large?
Many underestimate the personal sacrifices necessary to build a celebrity clientele. Work is scheduled around their availability, not mine. If you want to succeed in this field, you often have to sacrifice personal time.

What was the most surprising lesson you learned in your first year as a product-based business founder?
Ownership is a daily challenge. Small business ownership isn’t for those who give up easily. Just when you solve one problem, another hurdle arises. If you’re passionate and believe in your work, the timeline for success doesn’t matter—keep pushing forward.
Fast fashion dominates much of the beauty world — how are you working to bring simplicity and longevity back to the industry?
It’s an uphill battle, but I focus on creating high-quality products in small quantities. I share my mission, support small, privately owned manufacturing, and avoid purchasing from fast fashion brands myself.
What’s your ultimate vision for your accessory brand — and how does it connect with your overall mission as a creative and a CEO?
My vision for JBH is straightforward. I envision a brand with fewer than 10 employees, a community of kind-hearted customers, recognizable products that are cherished, and a financial capacity to give back.
