NO is NOT A COMPLETE SENTENCE

NO is NOT A COMPLETE SENTENCE

I’ll be the first to admit it. Hearing too many NO’s can be bad for the ego. Especially when it comes to receiving a promotion, job searching, partnerships, network- you name it. Yes, it is hard!! However, Perception is everything. I can list off tons of millionaires who were challenged with that little word and surpassed all expectations.

Many of us hear the word NO as a complete sentence. We stop trying, regress desires from our mental thoughts, and sometimes encourage other to alter their plans. If success is in the near future, we must program our minds to compel and see NO in the eyes of determination.

Dictionary.com defines NO – as (a negative used to express dissent, denial, or refusal as in response to a question or request).

I Defines NO- as, a possibility used to further engage, introduce, re-devise, and alter perceptions of services.

The fortunate truth is everyone is crafted with a special gift, talent, and contribution. Our main task is to teach others to understand why we are needed, how we can help, and how we fit in their puzzle.  When you are challenged with NO, exercise these methods to overcoming rejection:

#1. Ask Why? Many times we hear the word NO and take it as it is. It is important to learn how to receive the YES. Be bold and professional! Ask why you were not selected, what could you have done better, and what were some characteristics the chosen professional embodied? In the words of my Grandmother, “When you learn better, you do better.” Note: This may be a hard task; however you have greater works to achieve. Be humble & confident.

#2. Re-evaluate your approach. Were you shy? Overconfident? Knowledgeable? Did you say, “I’m not sure”, too many times, or sense doubt within yourself? Maybe you lack the “Ump” that is required to meet the person you always wanted to talk to. If so, your confidence was conveyed. The ultimate goal is to demonstrate passion with a hint of confidence. Think about it, you would not want someone running your business/company/department with uncertainties.

#3. Be Determined. Teach others why they should invest. Know all there is to know about your particular field of interest. Be the person who is everywhere and is doing everything in your field. Re-connect with some of your recent contacts, ask for advice and seek further education.  Review some of the top “movers and shakers” in your field. Study their habits, beginnings, and shortcomings. Reach out and ask questions. Never take NO for the answer!

The world really does need you. It is your job to teach how, why, and overcome No. No is not a complete sentence, and failure is not an option. Only determination and further examination will take you beyond.
