How You Talk To YOURSELF Determines The Success In Your Career

We all live with a voice in our head that plays the role of the soundtrack of our day today. That voice sometimes takes the form of a judge, sometimes a “voice of conscience”, sometimes it is our worst enemy, and at best it becomes our motivational mantra.

It’s necessary to realize that this voice must be educated so that it doesn’t take over our thoughts and, therefore, our mood and our external projection. Being able to lead that voice is an arduous task, but the power of your mind resides in your decision and perseverance to lead it.

Reflecting on how we speak to ourselves internally is the starting point to realizing (or identify) wrong patterns. Sometimes our mind plays as an opponent. But making the voice in your head your best friend and motivator instead of your worst judge is possible. Train self-control, self-knowledge and perseverance, and your reality are more likely to change and improve.

Find out how speaking to yourself can significantly determine the future of your career.

LEARNING FROM THE SPORT THINKING

Will Smith recently shared his vision about the benefits of running. He explained how your mind operates when it feels tired and tries to stop you. Exercising persistence despite fatigue is what sharpens your mind and helps develop strength.

As a start to catch that process, raising strong self-esteem is a key step to nurturing a positive and self-efficient way of thinking. The ‘sport thinking’ theory emphasizes the importance of developing confidence and motivation when we are archiving objectives (Simon Marshall and Lesley Paterson, 2019). The challenge of developing internal gratitude is one of the fundamental habit-bases to succeeding in our “long-distance race” towards our short and long-term goals. The greater the number of ‘pulses’ you gain in your mind, the easier it will be to develop this mental state of constant improvement and a sporty habit in which the positive always prevails.

LEARNING TO CONTROL THE EGO

But what is the ego? Let’s call it the bad part of your mind. The one that every time there is any stimulus in your day to day attacks and makes you think the worst. Opaque that voice. This voice is useful to keep us alert and preventing us from risks, but It’s essential to learn to use it in your favor. When you enter loops of negative thoughts is a perfect opportunity to develop simple techniques to master the art of control in your thoughts. Find ways to distract your negative thinking patterns. Going for a run, meditation, writing, drawing, talking with a loved one, to name a few. In addition, motivational podcasts or listening to music that helps you raise your vibrations are some of the effective techniques that we can use to change a self-negative speech. Mastering simple techniques to expel the negativity of your thoughts and create routines of positive thinking can change your life and your mood in a way you can’t imagine

TRAIN YOUR INNER VOICE TO BE YOUR BEST FRIEND

Living with oneself and learning to be in harmony while alone is the first step in building a healthy relationship with ourselves and, in turn, making our internal dialogue constructive. Our external life is a direct projection of our internal life (Phil Lane, Judie Bopp, and Michael Bopp, 2003). So, we can start creating repetitive positive habits and carefully selected routines for our minds. In the same way that we work out our body to strengthen itself, the mind also needs to be trained. In the same way that we nourish our body with healthy foods, the mind also needs to be fed with healthy content. A first step to harmonize with our inner voice is to observe the content we consume. The kind of content you read, the kind of music you listen to, the type of people you talk to…everything you and your mind pay attention to adds or subtracts in your career life. That’s why it is significant that you select a content routine that your mind absorbs. Feed-in positive and constructive and the results will be palpable. Talking to yourself as a best friend means being kind to oneself at the same time you empowering each day to be better.
